‘A Hung Parliament’

The current government has miserably failed in presenting Pakistan’s actual narrative before the world. Instead, the PML-N government contributed in weakening our national narrative by its inaction and wrong choices.

In my view, no single party would be able to get a clear majority in the next general elections and the next government will be a coalition one. Even the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was not in a position to form a government without a coalition, but someone made it happen for Nawaz Sharif.

We trust the Almighty and the masses.

If the Pakistan Peoples Party wins the coming general elections, we will serve this nation and take Pakistan forward. We have done this in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

One major thing our party plans to do is to revisit the country’s foreign policy as the current government has miserably failed in presenting Pakistan’s actual narrative before the world. Instead, the PML-N government contributed in weakening our national narrative by its inaction and wrong choices. We will redefine Pakistan’s foreign ties and present a strong narrative of our country in international politics.

It is also pertinent to mention that we should maintain good relations with the United States, which we will, but not at the cost of national interest. Anything that undermines our national interest is unacceptable.

When I was the president, I visited Russia and met its president. After almost 40 years, we started mending our relationship with Russia. We expect that our relationships with Russia and China will continue to grow and expand in the future. It is our dream to strengthen our ties with all the countries linked with the Silk Road. Hopefully, with China’s support, Pakistan will become a force multiplier in South Asia.

Despite the recent spike in hostilities, we must not forget this undeniable fact that India is our neighbour. If Indians are ready to coexist peacefully then we will definitely reciprocate their gesture.

However, the Kashmir issue remains a bone of contention between Pakistan and India. Without resolving this core dispute, normal relations between the two countries will remain a dream. Kashmir is Pakistan’s jugular vein. We will ensure to take its right from India once and for all.

I deem Afghanistan and Iran as our friends. People of both these countries are like our brothers and we should treat them as such. It is imperative to keep good relations with all our bordering countries so that their confidence and reliance on us would increase.
